What is it about owl decor that is so irresistible? I love owl decor but of course I don't want to see like the "crazy owl lady" either. West Elm and Anthropology have some extremely cute decor items. I have been dying to get the white owl cookie jar with the winking eye! Is there a certain decor item that you just love and can't get enough of? 

Spacious and Glamorous Closets

Closets are certainly not wasted space. If anything everyone needs more storage space in their closets. There are designers out there that just design closets. When designing your closet keep in mind its not just about the aesthetics of the room but the function. Make sure you have everything for your storage needs. A perfect Master Closet for me would be having a personal washer and dryer included in the room. That way your clothes never leave the room and you just have private space to yourself. I always disliked sharing the laundry room with other people. You put your clothes in the dryer and someone else comes to take them out, throwing them onto the cat litter covered floor (trust me this has happened). Have a family laundry room that your kids and guests can use and keep a smaller one in your Master Closet. This way your clothes stay in the same room and you are the only one touching them in the washing and drying process. What does your dream closet consist of? 

Adding Sparkle to That Drab Apartment Kitchen

Every Apartment I move in to I just want to fix up and make it "mine". With apartments you obviously can't go crazy and try to renovate the whole place, so I have been thinking of some easy changes that you can make to make it seem like your home sweet home. One of the hardest things to try to fix up without completely changing is the kitchen. Instead of cooking in the drab apartment kitchen add some knobs to glam it up. You can exchange all the hardware on your cabinetry for hardware from Anthropology. This will add that sparkle and uniqueness that you would want in your own home. Anthropology knobs are always going on sale too! Which is great because it gets pretty pricey when you start adding it all up. You can also add wall decor such as artwork or even a fun clock. Another thing I saw on the Nate Berkus Show was adding fabric to your wall. Its like putting on wallpaper but with the fabric, when you are done using it you just peel if off and it doesn't hurt the paint. How great is that!

 

Animal Heads

That is a weird title for sure, but I love the look of these animal heads! I think they look great and really add something dramatic but still subtle to your room. West Elm and Etsy have some really great ones. I would like a black deer head with silver sparkly antlers.

Our Newest Addition

Mike and I have been talking for quite a while about getting a puppy. Finally on 12/30 Mike showed me a picture of a cute little chihuahua and said we are picking her up at 7 pm tonight! I was so happy! I never had pets growing up so I was overly excited for this cute addition. We decided on the name Luna for our pup and got her everything a puppy could want. We even got her a doggy coat for these cold snowy nights. Luna has already stolen my heart! Now for the hard part, potty training!

Staircases!

Stairs are such a great thing and really make it easy to move around from one floor to another. I think stairs can add a lot of beauty to the home. Why just have very plain stairs when you can put something in the space that adds your individualism. There are so many styles and ideas that you can apply to your staircases. Make your stairs something to be proud of. When people come into your home let that be the first thing they see and have them be wowed. You will be the envy of your guests. Most importantly just do what you want and love! I love stairs and want some very big open spacious floating stairs in my home.

Happy New Year

This year I have made a few resolutions on which I want to improve on, as we all do. One thing is that I would like to improve my skills and talents and be able to share them. What are some of your goals for the New Year?
