Dressing Your Windows Right

The living room is where you spend the most time together with your family and where your guests come to visit. In most cases this room is on the main level of a home and sees a lot of activity. This is why it is so important this area needs to be decorated. One of the biggest factors of decorating your living room is covering the windows. You need to make sure you do your drapery right because your eye will be directed to that first. Some important things you needs to remember are:
Does the window covering provide what I am looking for such as privacy, darkness and decor?
Do the curtains keep a certain flow through out the room or does it look out of place?
Are the curtains all hung at the same height in the room, even if the windows are at different heights?

The curtains in this room give it a nice symmetrical flow.

Place the curtains at the start of the ceiling for added heighth to the room.

This type of shade is perfect for privacy at night and to bring sunlight in during the day.

Notice how the curtain rod only being at the higher windows make the room seem much larger.

Even though the window is on a slant they still managed to keep the same line with how they added the curtains. It looks very pleasant to the eye.
